Databases

ABI/INFORM Collection comprises ABI/INFORM Global, ABI/INFORM Trade and Industry, and ABI/INFORM Dateline. The database features thousands of full-text journals, dissertations, working papers, key business and economics periodicals such as the Economist, country-and industry-focused reports, and downloadable data. Its international coverage gives researchers a complete picture of companies and business trends around the world. This database is accessed through Proquest.

Academic Search Elite contains full text for more than 2,100 journals, Nearly 150 journals have PDF images dating back to 1985. Academic institutions worldwide depend on this database as their core resource of scholarly information. This is an EBSCO database.

Contemporary Authors Online (Gale) provides complete biographical and bibliographical information and references on all of the more than 120,000 U.S. and international authors whose entries appear in Contemporary Authors and Contemporary Authors New Revision Series. Updated monthly, Contemporary Authors allows users to search for an author by name, title of work, nationality, date and place of birth and death, subject/genre, personal and career information, awards and honors, and more.

CREDO Reference is a general reference solution that allows users to conduct thoroughly detailed searches in a range of multifaceted ways. Its full-text, aggregated content covers every major subject from the world’s best publishers of reference. Google Scholar provides access to scholarly literature across many disciplines and sources, including theses, books, abstracts and articles. Google Scholar

Literature Criticism Online presents excerpts from criticisms of short stories and includes biographical material on the authors. This database is accessed through Gale.

Literary Index is a master index to the major print literature series published by The Gale Group. It combines and cross references more than 130,000 author names, including pseudonyms and variant names, and more than 140,000 titles into one source. Use this index to locate biographies on authors and critical essays on their writings. This database is accessed through Gale.

MasterFILE Premier is a multidisciplinary database designed specifically for public libraries that provides full text for nearly 1,700 periodicals dating as far back as 1975. Covering virtually every subject area of general interest, MasterFILE Premier also contains full text for nearly 500 reference books and over 164,400 primary source documents, as well as an Image Collection of over 592,000 photos, maps & flags. MLA International Bibliography offers a detailed bibliography of journal articles, books and dissertations. Produced by the Modern Language Association, the electronic version of the bibliography dates back to the 1920’s and contains over 2.3 million citations from more than 4,400 journals & series and 1,000 book publishers. Newspaper Source provides cover-to-cover full text for more than 40 (U.S.) & international newspapers. The database also contains selective full text for 389 regional (U.S.) newspapers. In addition, full text television & radio news transcripts are also provided. This is an EBSCO database.

Pew Research Center is a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping America and the world. It conducts public opinion polling, demographic research, media content analysis and other empirical social science research. Pew Research does not take policy positions. ProQuest Central is a cross-disciplinary research tool with 30 databases that can be searched together or individually. Covering more than 160 subjects areas, ProQuest Central is the largest aggregated database of periodical content. This award-winning online reference resource features a highly-respected, diversified mix of content including scholarly journals, trade publications, magazines, books, newspapers, reports and videos. This database is accessed through ProQuest.

ProQuest Newsstand’s detailed indexing helps users quickly find the news information they need. Each issue of each newspaper is indexed thoroughly, so researchers have access to not only top news stories but also the information contained on the various sections of the papers. The indexing covers not only complete bibliographic information but also companies, people, products, etc. This database is accessed through Proquest.

Research Companion is a new, intuitive, and self-guided product that supports information literacy, writing, and research skills instruction occurring in today’s libraries, classrooms, and online learning environments. This database is accessed through ProQuest.

Research Library provides one-stop access to thousands of full-text periodicals from one of the broadest, most inclusive general reference databases ProQuest has to offer. Search from a highly-respected, diversified mix of scholarly journals, professional and trade publications, and magazines covering over 150 subjects and topics. in all instances. SIRS Issues Researcher provides background and current analysis necessary for the research and understanding of 320+ current and pervasive Leading Issues. Analysis and opinions cover the pros, cons, and everything in between on the most researched and debated social issues.

TOPICsearch contains full text for over 150,961 articles from 475 diverse sources including international and regional newspapers, EBSCO’s unparalleled collection of periodicals, biographies, public opinion polls, book reviews, pamphlets, and government information. This is an EBSCO database.

UXL American Decades covers 20th-century events and social history beginning in 1900 and ending in 1999, written expressly for middle school students. Chapters begin with a chronology of world events and a general overview of the decade. Chapters include the topics: Topics in the News, Headline Makers and Further Reading. Within each topic, alphabetically arranged entries discuss historically important events, issues, definitions of difficult concepts or terms, and other interesting trivia and sideline stories.
